Elul (Day 2) — The King is in the field!

Elul is known as the time when “the King is in the field”—a season when God draws especially near, not distant behind palace gates but walking among His people, approachable and inviting all to come close. Just as James 4:8 promises, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you,” this month reminds us that the Lord bends low into our everyday lives, calling us to set aside distraction and intentionally turn our hearts toward Him. Even the name Elul echoes covenant intimacy: “I am my Beloved’s, and my Beloved is mine.” This is the moment to awaken to His presence, embrace repentance, and respond to His love—for the King is in the field, waiting for you.
