Elul (Day 4) — Forty Days of Mercy

Elul is known as the ā€œForty Days of Mercy,ā€ recalling when Moses ascended Sinai after Israel’s sin with the golden calf and God revealed Himself not as a vengeful judge but as merciful, gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love. For forty days Moses interceded until the covenant was renewed, pointing us forward to Yeshua, who now intercedes for us at the Father’s right hand. Each shofar blast in this season declares that His mercy is greater than our failure and His love deeper than our shame, inviting us to return, repent, and be restored under His covering.

Elul (Day 3) — Second Chances!

Elul is a month born out of failure, yet filled with mercy, reminding us that God is the God of second chances. From the golden calf at Sinai to the unbelief at Kadesh Barnea, Israel stumbled, but the Lord did not abandon His people—He called Moses back up the mountain to intercede, and by Yom Kippur the covenant was renewed. Each shofar blast in this season declares that failure is not final, that repentance opens the door to restoration, and that God’s mercy has the last word. Just as He gave Israel another chance, He calls us to return, draw near, and let His forgiveness rewrite our story—the King is in the field, and His invitation still stands.

Elul (Day 2) — The King is in the field!

Elul is known as the time when ā€œthe King is in the fieldā€ā€”a season when God draws especially near, not distant behind palace gates but walking among His people, approachable and inviting all to come close. Just as James 4:8 promises, ā€œDraw near to God and He will draw near to you,ā€ this month reminds us that the Lord bends low into our everyday lives, calling us to set aside distraction and intentionally turn our hearts toward Him. Even the name Elul echoes covenant intimacy: ā€œI am my Beloved’s, and my Beloved is mine.ā€ This is the moment to awaken to His presence, embrace repentance, and respond to His love—for the King is in the field, waiting for you.

Month of Elul (Day One) — A Season of Return

The month of Elul is a sacred season of preparation, standing at the close of one cycle and the threshold of another, marked each day by the blast of the shofar calling God’s people to awaken and return. Known both as the 12th month on the civil calendar and the 6th on the biblical calendar, Elul carries the meaning of repentance and readiness, but also covenant intimacy, echoing the words, ā€œI am my Beloved’s, and my Beloved is mineā€ (Song of Songs 6:3). Rooted in Moses’ forty days of intercession on Sinai after Israel’s sin, Elul has long been remembered as a time of mercy, second chances, and renewed relationship with God. As the Bride prepares for the coming Bridegroom and the Fall Feasts, this season invites us to repentance, intimacy, and fresh anointing, readying our hearts for His appearing.
